1988 230 fuel flow capacity
«

I went from twin 115's to twin 175's. I seem to be having an issue with fuel flow. I can run either engine and get up on plane, but when I run both, the Port, which is furthest from the seperator filter, misses and runs poorly.
My mechanic says I may need seperate fuel lines from the tank with seperate filters. I have a 60 gph filter now and one fuel line to it.
Am I over the max hp for the boat?
Help please.
Thanks,
Reed

are you using 3/8 hose? or smaller. smaller =not enough =1/4 ,5/16 etc
3/8 without excess kinks or bends may be ok.but
2 pickups and 2 filter separators might be better if you have room but ads to maintenance a bit.
you could be flowing 40gph or so total at WOT
ignore filter stated max capacity if your pumps cant draw that much in through plumbing you have.
does throttling back the one engine just a bit help the other equally ? that may be best indicator short of vaccuum and pressure guages a, flow meters etc.
even another brand of filter may help?

Thanks for the reply.
I believe it's 3/8 but will have to check.
It did seem that throttling back one helped the other.
One mechanic suggested replacing the anti siphon barb with a straight barb. Can this do any harm?

YES, BUT
ANTISIPHON THERE FOR A PURPOSE...
BUT IT WOULDNT LIKELY BE MUCH TROUBLE TO CHANGE TO A NEW ONE IF OLD ONE TO RESTRICTIVE..
ALSO YOU MAY END UP PUMPING PRIMER BULBS MORE OFTEN.
BUT EFFECTIVE DIAGNOSTIC MOVE
