Arnie, you  need more HP.  But the transom can handle it.  She's built for twin 225s...

I would bet money that you could get an economical 20-25 kt cruise........

I get 24 kts at 4000rpm on my 24ss with a 225 Zuke with a catalog hull weight of 3400 pounds.

A 2700 Sportman is 4750 pounds, beamier at 9'10 but less deadrise. Bolt on a 350 which is 55% more hp than a 225.....I would be happy with that expected performance.
