hello proline owners.i have 2004 23 walk with hardtop 225hp Honda.it's a good combination,but a little under powered, with a little load it's  hard to plane boat,i have tried different props,but i lose my top end speed,question is? is there a member out there with same boat with 300hp 4stroke Merc or Suzuki ? and how does it perform?? thanks Dave

Dave,
It's not underpowered as to HP. A 225 is fine on the hull.
HONDA, although a great outboard, is heavier and slower than others. Maybe as much as 10% slower.
MERC 225 4 stroke, vs. HONDA 225 4 stroke, same hull, we showed MERC to be 42-44, HONDA 37-39. So, there is a differance as to the performance expected from the outboard motors. The speeds mentioned here are not gauranteed, but real close. Probobly right on.
With the HONDA, you should be cruising at about 25 MPH, which is about normal for the size range.
