2005 23' Walk

« on: August 13, 2010, 09:19:49 PM »

Just found the forum and felt some of you seasoned Proline owners might offer some suggestions concerning problem I am experiencing.  The dual function map light/spreader light dome that houses the two micro switches above the cockpit is very un- reliable. In the last two years I've replaced it twice. It's made with what I think is substandard switches because that's always the problem I find. I have not be able to find these switches other than in the complete new fixture.
Does any one know of a better quality light that will replace this OEM?

Welax, One of my switches was non functional when I acquired my '00 23 Walk.  I left the lamp in place but replaced it with a more standard small marine toggle switch.  Had to find one that required minimal thickness to fit in place of the original and drill out the opening somewhat but no problems w/ it since then.

I think if you search this forum, Bob has provided the name of the original switch supplier.  If you do want to replace the lamp altogether, consider going to a dual red/white LED unit for the lower power consumption, heat output, and long "bulb" life.

Let us know what ends up working best for you.

I also have the 2005 23 walk, that light has been my biggest headache since I bought the boat. I have fixed it,and/or replaced bulb at least 3 times now. It stopped working around a month ago and will be my first winter project this year. good luck with yours.
