We splashed the boat at Portsmouth City Park boat ramp around 6am. I had Jimmy,Brian, Forrest, and yours truly aboard my 22' Proline W/A. On the way we caught bull minnows, spot, and croaker, for bait.We heard that finger mullet were all in the creeks so we decided to get some of them as well. The flounder could enjoy a buffet of minnows, spot, croaker, mullet, white squid, and gulp baits.
It was a slow start with nothing happening for a couple of hours. I got concerned. Finally,I got that feeling I was waiting for.I set the hook hard and fish on!! I knew it was a keeper fish when I felt the weight. In the box it goes. Then Brian gets fish on!! In the box it goes.Ok now things are looking up.Keep in mind it got over 100 degrees today!! Next I hook another one and I say"Now this one has some shoulders". This was even bigger than the other ones. We had some throwbacks as well.
We caught 4 nice keeper flounders. All caught on flounder rigs. One on a bull minnow and my three on LARGE finger mullet. We had a fish fry last night. So fresh they were still kicking!!
