I'm am wondering what the best prop would be for our 1995 231 W/A. It has a '95 Mariner 225 o/b (original engine w/400 hrs).

We purchased the boat recently & it needs a new prop before we put it in the water. We have no idea regarding RPM/MPH/performance reached with the previous props so that makes it more difficult.

I have the original owners manual with all the original stickers & info. The boat was originally purchased with a Quicksilver 14 dia. 19 pitch prop. The prop on the boat right now is a 3 blade 15 pitch Mirage Plus.  The boat was a tender for a yacht & they used it a small bit for fishing.

We are located on Buzzards Bay & it gets pretty snotty out there, especially at the entrance to the Cape Cod Canal. Would like the best pitch & size we can get in a 4 blade prop so we aren't slamming waves & can get the most out of the motor.

Would love to hear any recommendations as we don't know why the prop was changed to a 15 pitch or what the resulting differences would be between a 19 & 15. Our Sportscraft 242 w/Johnson 225 is a very similar sized/style boat & we always had a 17 on it.

Thanks!
