Hi Everyone,

I thought I'd introduce myself since I'm new to this site. My husband Frank & I fish & dive around Buzzard's Bay/Cape Cod and just purchased our first Pro-Line boat, a'95 231. We are replacing a '85 Sportcraft 242 OSFF and were looking for a walk around of about the same length. While we were looking for something a bit newer then '95 this was a boat that we couldn't say no to. We bought it from the original owner who had used it as a tender for his yacht. It was always wrapped each winter & maintained by one of his yachts crew. I can't wait for Frank to pick it up this evening!

Anyway, just wanted to say "Hi!" I'm sure we will be back with questions as we get to know our "new" boat.

welcome.
I have the reverse situation of your boats previous owner. Roll Eyes
I consider my proline231 the "yacht" as it has more range than many 30+footers.
other locals with bigger boats cant fish offshore because of limited fuel capacity.
Like picking up an adopted child when you get a new primary boat.

after your inspection and sea trial  /first run let us try and help.

welcome again.

Sue I was just looking at your photos on Bobs web site. Looks like a good cleaning is in order! Try a spray bottle with clorox on the bolsters and seats. Spray and rinse well with clear water after about ten min. Bet most of the crud will disapear. Just dont let the clorox set too long as it will EAT the stitching on the upholstry,

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah, this boat has now gone from being the tender to being the yacht too! I can't wait to get on the water, hopefully next week.

Brad, thx for the info on cleaning up the upholstery  Thumbs Up I'm hoping most of it will clean up. I've only seen one tear (back bolster). The interior cushions and cockpit enclosure all have never been used and look like new  Smiley

Frank picked up the boat this morning  Smiley

I have had fun exploring it and seeing what was left in it. I first had to unbury the interior cushions as they were covered in life jackets & cushions...18 of them! Added to all that we already have I've got life jacket overload  Shocked  It was nice that they left all the charts, new tool set and tons of fishing gear.

The headliner is just starting to come down on the side in the cabin so I need some advice on what to use to glue it back up before it gets worse.

The teeth on the zipper of one of the cockpit cover sides crumble when you touch them so that needs to be repaired somewhere, and we decided to get all new seat cushions & bolsters for the cockpit & deck and have emailed CushionGuy Gary.

Other then that it just needs a good scrubbing which I'm going to do now  Smiley

Hi Sue, and WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!
My favorite boat was a "241" which is the same as your "231".
We pride ourselves with keeping everyone confused, including ourselves, as to the same boat with different model designations?
"231", "241", "25W", all the same boat.
A GREAT HULL!
Enjoy it with your family for many years to come. It'll take very good care of you.
THANK YOU FOR OWNING A PRO-LINE, WE REALLY APPRECIATE IT!

Thanks for the nice welcome Mike!  Don't know how I missed seeing your post before now.

Update: We haven't gotten the boat into the water yet, work & house remodeling keep getting in the way  Angry  but we are having a great time getting to know the boat. It is cleaned up, registered & the motor starts right up & sounds awesome (in our driveway).

Gary (CushionGuy) is making new chair backs & bolsters for us and I've sent the canvas sides out to a local sail/canvas shop for new zippers as they had all but disintegrated from being stored under a window in the sun. I've had fun shopping for new accessories for the boat in green since all our other stuff is blue. Can't wait for everything to be finished & set up so we can try her out on the water...hopefully before next weekend  Smiley

Sue,
We're delighted to have you.
On the "Blogs", THE HULL TRUTH, and others. Posting a photo of your boat, no matter what it was called from year to year, and some other models, always brings other photo's and comments from people who own them.
Yours is timeless. Perhaps the best hull we ever built. Well, for sure, one of them. Mine was the "241 Walk". I had a 225 OPTI on it. My family was totally satisfied with it. Just the right size for my wife to take out by herself with my grandson and her very overweight Black Lab.
We discontinued the hull to go to new models with deeper V'S at the transom. Your is a 19 degree at the transom, vs. 22 degree at the transom we build now. Now, I'll never disagree with my boss. My boss is allways right. It's just sometimes he's a little less right than others. Your hull is sorely missed. It's a great hull with a tremendous amount of interior space that was adored by people who owned them.
You'll love your "231"!

You'll love your "231"!

We already do  Thumbs Up  ...at least in the yard  Roll Eyes

The weather this weekend doesn't look too good, with rain & 10-20 mph winds expected, but we are having fun get it all ready & seeing what we can switch over from our Sportcraft (down-riggers, out riggers, trim tabs, kicker, etc). Yesterday our new prop arrived & I picked up the canvas enclosure that I'd had cleaned & new zippers put in. I've been busy washing, polishing & getting all ready. I'm going down now to wax her while I wait for the UPS man to bring us more goodies Grin

I called Faron @ Pro-Line yesterday about a couple of broken parts (hinge spring, deck light, etc) and he was so super friendly & helpful! While he didn't have the parts I was looking for he gave me the info & advice I needed so I could find the parts & they are now ordered. CushionGuy Gary tells me our cushions will be ready next week too! So we might not be able to take her out this weekend due to weather, but she will look really good whenever we finally do LOL.

Between Mike, Bob, Gary, Faron & all the other Pro-Line guys I've talked to here & on the phone I can't imagine a better customer service crew. You guys are the best!  Cheers

Thanks for the nice welcome. We can't wait to get the boat into the water.

Frank & I were just talking and there is no reason not to run down to the wharf to put it in, but we really would like to finish putting the kicker motor on since we have it sitting right next to the boat. With our luck something would happen & we would be  Banging Head Banging Head

So instead of being out on Buzzards Bay we are heading out into the 90+ heat & humidity to finish things up (can you hear the violins?)

Hi Sue,

Congratulations on you "new to you" Pro-Line! It sounds like you are getting to know your boat and spending some quality time with it.

My wife and I are also recent Pro-Line owners. We purchased a used 1998 241 WA with an I/O. We have enjoyed it so far and spent our first overnight on it this past Saturday at a place called Rock Island in Northern Door County of Wisconsin. But I digress...

Where are the other pictures of your boat? I am curious to see the state of your cushions and bolsters.
Although we have no rips or punctures in cushions , they could use a good cleaning to make the colors pop and the whites could be "whiter". Did you clean and restore any ofoyour cushions or just replace them all?
Thanks,

Tim

Here is a picture:

What a beautiful boat . . . only one year newer, but much more pristine than my "new" '94.  I think you've purchased well - hope you're making time to enjoy her in the midst of remodeling, etc.

Has she never been bottom coated?  And what color are the graphics?  (I suppose what I'm asking is for more pics . . .)

Hi Greg & Tim, thanks for the comments. We absolutely love this boat & have already had a lot of fun on her.  I have to get dinner but I'll post pics later tonight.

Tim we replaced the ripped/very worn seat backs & the 3 bolsters and cleaned up the seat bottoms. I had been told on I think this forum to put bleach on the white area and leave it on for a few minutes (no more then 10 min to avoid damage to thread) and them scrub & wash with clean water. That worked pretty well, better then I'd been able to get them white other ways. I love the job Cushionguy Gary did on our new cushions. Pics coming of those as well.

Greg, the boat has never been bottom painted, which is a first for us. It is very different for a salt water boat up here in MA not to have bottom paint. The boat had been a tender for a yacht and was maintained by the crew. It was stored & shrink wrapped each winter too. After minimal clean up it looks almost new, except for the graphics on the sides of the hull. The graphics are green w/gold. We still can't believe we got such a sweet deal on it...$5500!
