I have a mercury 225 with a 48 16314 17P prop, problem is the boat doesnt get on the plane very well in rougher water and it is the factory motor with only 202 hours. Top speed is between 30-34 mph, but once on the plane its easy to fall off it and the most rpm's I can get my motor to turn is between 4900 and 5100.

I was wondering if anyone uses a 4 blade prop and how they like it because I am thinking about switching to it or to a less pitched prop.

I have got nearly the same boat but a walk around with the same engine and I am running a Mirage Plus 15.25x17p 3 blade from Mercury. After trying several props this one was far and away the best top end, fuel and bottom end of them all.

Ok, I think my prop might just be too big of a prop, the pitch might be good but size is just a little too big.

I just switched out my 17p Vengence for a 21p Rev4. I will let you know results.

My 17p had the same problem of high rpm cruise, over-revving, and horrible plane. I am hoping for some more hole shot - and mid range. Can care less about top end.
