Hi
I have a question on my new (old) boat. Bought my first proline last year 1999 2610 (wide beam). This thing is awesome and I love it. But looking at the (lame) owners manual I see that there was a generator option. I would like to put one on but, I would like to know where they put them and what make they were. The boat is fully loaded, big block merc ,I/o bravo 3 ,water tank, holding tank etc. I would like to level the load so it would be great to know where and what was the original. I currently have me boat in high and dry no electric at the dock shore power is connected to my little Honda gen, works but could be much better.

Tight lines to you

Drew,
Now in '99, I was still building boats at Wellcraft.  But I have a feeling the genset was offered on outboard versions of the 2610 only.

Think about it.  Even installing a 3 KW Westerbeke, do you see the room for for a genset, intake, fuel/water separator, muffler and exhaust hose?

Chances are, the Genset went where your big block lives.

When I was at Wellcraft, on the 290 Coastal, you could either have a 5 KW Onan, or an extra fuel tank.  Not both.  They lived in the same place. Wink

Drew,
Have you considered a couple of batts wired in series to power an inverter?

Inverter Yes - but We are on the boat Friday thru Sunday - Are house at the beach-no power due to High and dry and limited docking . when on boat we run the fidge, small heater ( when cold ) and at night lights, radio and what ever. If I draw down battery how do I recharge other than running the motor.
You definately have me thinking real hard about inverter / shore power (gen with my portable at dock ) . still like the idea of fire the genset and enjoy also
power mangement is easy.

Thanks

Drew,
It is pretty evident that you don't have the under deck space for a genset.  That being said, Honda and Yamaha make some great, small, quiet generators that won't take up too much cockpit space, aren't that heavy, and will give you 2-2.5 KW reliably all weekend long with the fill of a gas can.

Just something for you to ponder... Wink
