Is that a 704 or 706Z on the right?  When it comes to spinning reels, I ONLY use the Z-series, the hell with the SSs... Thumbs Up

Black one is the SG 8000, sargus. The gold one is the SS 850, seems like a good reel, not used one before but have always been happy with Penn senators on my shark rigs.

Marcum,
Nothing wrong with the SS series, excellent reels, I'm just a purist from the days when spinning reels were left hand retrieve only.  The SS can be swapped over to right hand.

What line do you plan on using?  I like Ande Pink mono...I'm also not a braid guy...

That was a question I wanted to ask, I dont plan on shark fishing with these rods...I dont think. But they are mainly for reef fishing, what would you recommend to someone who has never reef fished before and not sure what to expect.

What species are you targeting?  Snapper? Grouper? Cobia?  Pelagics? If your looking for species that will try and cut you off on the reef, you'll need to use a steel leader.  If your looking for species that cut through bait then just run when hooked, you won't.

Most guys will recommend braid, but I stick with mono.  Use a palomar knot.  Worked for me on snook, reds, inshore species.  Steel leader (18" minimum, double strand) will beat almost every fish out there 'til you get to the gulfstream...then you get into the big boys...and girls!

What is it "you want"?  Bass Pro is not the end all...

Some good mono line.

This is off Bass Pro's website.  Like I said, I use Pink...yeah, I know, but I like the looks of it.  I guess the fish do to, I've caught a ton of them! Thumbs Up

Don't forget to check out TackleDirect.com and RiverMarineSupply.com. Their prices blow away BassPro for a lot of the saltwater stuff you'll want.
