Patrick,
You know something?  I've been installing alcohol/electric stoves for years, and no one I ever knew cooked with alcohol.  I've always said ditch the alcohol, go straight electric...

Nice unit!  Be nice if you could have fit a double-burner in there... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

you know what I can't believe, how much power those little things suck up, I have a brand new kenyon that came with the boat and mine uses 1100 watts, more than my ac, battery charger, and fridge combined.

That's one of the reasons your range/stove at home uses 240V.  Half the amp draw.

Europeans, who have been around a long time, use 240.  They're not stupid, you know.  We take half the voltage available to us and throw it away... Undecided

I have only the straight acohol version of that OE stove , IVe used it but it is "Sub optimal" to say the least. I use a propane (hairspray size canister)portable camping
stove out on deck, usually sitting on an icechest, faster, slicker, cheap $20 stove, $2-3 per fuel cartrige.
dont have the power source for any electric cooking  3batteries, std alternator.
Of course you lucky guys with Gensets can use anything want including a microwave. Smiley

Might pull the stove to use the space underneath for someting more interesting.
But it made the boatloan an interest /mortgage deduction by being there, paid for itself.
and it is in the cabin in case of a windy anchorage.

i know what ur saying, I had the single burner propane one on my old boat and it worked great. those little gas canisters would last me a long time, simple to use and clean, very low maintenance.

Good morning -- I know that experienced boaters are aware of this, but just in case a new owner reads the post:  Note in the postings above that those folks are using the propane stove OUTSIDE the cabin, in the open air.  Remember, Propane is heavier than air, so don't use a propane stove inside the boat -- if there is a propane leak in the tank / bottle / line to to stove, it could settle in the bottom of the nearest "hole", waiting for a bilge pump to turn on, or a spark of some kind.  BOOM !!  (And I'm guessing the insurance company would not be happy)..   Huh?
