I have a 2003 Pro Line 20 Sport, the boat accumulate about 3" of water in the battery compartment. This happens when it rain or after cleaning the boat. The hole on the rear right where the battery & cables, steering cable, electrical wires, and fuel line seem to be stopped up because water seem to fill up in that hole. I have tried to stick a roto rooter spring to clean it out but nothing is working. Has anyone had any problem with this before? Seems like the water should drain down to the stern of the boat. But its not...
Any assistance with be appreciated.

I will take some pictures later.

try using a shop vac and stick it in the hole.  if there is something cloging the hole maybe it will suck it out.  thats what i do for all my drain hole if water doest flush it out.  sometimes its easier to get the debris out from where it came from rather than where it should go out.  hope this helps.

DTL,
Basically you have 2 issues facing you here.  The first is that your "hatch" is easily allowing water to intrude into the battery compartment on the starboard side aft.  Chances are you have a simple lid made of starboard with no seal on the bottom side.  The second issue you face is that your "rigging tube" starts immediately downward as the tube runs forward to the console, thus water will naturally start to fill the rigging tube, and that is nor a good thing.

There are 2 fixes to your problem, the first the most effective.  We have some gasketing made by Trim-Lok that you should affix to the fiberglass surface of the opening to seal out water intrusion.  Here is the stuff we use. http://www.trimlok.com/detail.aspx?ID=1067  I can get you the quantity you need at minimal cost (don't pay attention to the price in the link, that's for like a 500 foot roll!).

The second fix is to raise the trailer tongue considerably so that any water in the boat will drain aft far more easily.  But the first fix is the key.  Let me know and I'll get you some. Smiley

Bob,
I received the gasket today, but it pushes the seat up too high/too wide plus the latches cannot be locked.
Take a look at the pictures below.

Gasket pushing the seat up.

Below is a picture of the original gasket on the other seat by oil tank

I went to Lowes afterward and bought this 1/4 gasket which seems to fit perfect.

My reply to Dave's email he sent me:

This what I queried you about on prolineowners.com:

"The first is that your "hatch" is easily allowing water to intrude into the battery compartment on the starboard side aft.  Chances are you have a simple lid made of starboard with no seal on the bottom side."

This is not a "lid made of starboard". What you have is one of the Jim Black hatches we use.  That info would have been real helpful.  And no, that gasket material won't work worth a crap with that hatch.

This statement by you would have also been more helpful:
"I will take some pictures later. "

So, the next step is yours.  Look, I don't mean to sound like a hardass here, but when I write something because someone has asked my advice, what I reply is meant to be read and analysed.  The statement about taking pics obviously was only gotten around to after the gasket material arrived.

Your real fix is new hatches, and properly bed the frames when you install them.

I'm sorry the material I sent you was not the appropriate fix for the problem.  But I relied on your communication, and as you can see, the communication was not the best...

And his reply to my email:

I did not know Pro-Line made two different hatch simple lid /Jim Black, I assumed your Pro Line technical expertise would have identified that information of the two styles of hatches. It always easy to point blame then to rectified the problem. I did not know Pro Line had such "Customer Service."

When I go to Auto Zone with my year, make and model they give me the correct part. They do not rely on me to know if it made by Edelbrock or Summit Racing.

I would like to return the rubber and received a $30.00 refund, Just as if I bought a part from Summit or Autozone. Sorry for this but I will not ask for your assistance again, if this is the way Pro-Line customer service operate. Not trying to bash Pro Line but I have to call a spade a spade.

Dave

DTL
Sorry but i feel i must step in here. On one of Bob C replies he stated ''chances are you have a simple lid made of starboard with no seal on the bottom side''. in the pictures you sent the lid does not appear to be starboard at that point i would have questioned Bob C to find out if the style lid would accept the molding he was sending.I do not believe Bob C represent proline Company's Customer Service as much as he is trying to help fellow proline owners with answers to problems and questions. I am in the automobile business and quite familar with correct part ordering. At my dealership we need to have the vehicle vin number to order many of our parts. I am sure with a little more information to Bob C this would of had a better ending.
                                                                                       Thank You

All,
I just trusted his knowledge after reading his profile: Well I was wrong... I am not going to stress over $30.00.
If so, I could have stop payment on the check before it cleared. I read his profile which led me to trust that he knew what he was talking about and if he needed additional information he would have asked.

I am a production engineer with Pro-Line Boats, and it would be my pleasure to help you out with any questions you might have about your boats.  I was at Wellcraft for 6 years, a couple of short stints with Hydra-Sports and Intrepid, Stamas Yacht for 5 years, and now Pro-Line for 3.  Pro-Line has truly been the most enjoyable because of the ability I've been given to share my knowledge with the company, and actually see getting it put to use.

So, with the onset of this "new" site, I look forward to seeing the Pro-Line owners, and the myriad of questions that will soon follow.

How can an engineer at a company not represent that company? Give me a break....

Pro Line is a name, people make the company. They are responsible for what goes right and what goes wrong, let not sugar coat the truth.

I have been in the Army over 20 years and no matter what I do, I represent the "Army" not just the S-6 where I conduct my daily business.

Ok, I am guilty for falling into the false advertisment of knowledge from his profile....Some may have a Title of engineer, but dont know "Diddly-Squat" as their Title proclaim.

I admit, I am a novice boater and this is my 1st boat.
