Hi all,

I'm new here (on the website, I've been in SW Florida for 10 years) and just bought a 1989 Proline 21' Walk Around Cabin with a 150hp Evenrude that has 20-30 hrs since it was rebuilt. The boat looks solid and is in fair to good condition but can use a lot of TLC to get it into the kind of condition I like my boat to be in. I'm guessing we'll talk about some of that later. The outboard is clean enough to eat off of, except for the mist of WD40 to keep the salt spray from coroding it. It also came with an aluminum Rodax dual axle trailer.

For now my first interest is if anybody knows how big the gas tank is on this boat? The preveious owner wasn't sure but thought it was around 50 gallons. This is my first real powerboat. We've owned a 26' MacGregor trailerable sailboat (with a 9.9hp Johnson 2 stroke) and still have a 10' Achilles inflatable with a 5.5hp Honda four stroke.

I have a lot of work to do and will have a lot of questions to ask so I'm guessing I'll be around here a lot. Thanks for any advise.

Welcome Ron Cheers

I used to live in Naples...guarded at Vanderbilt Beach while growing up, and used to ply the gulf and brackish backwaters in that area from the canal in our backyard.  Great life for a kid Thumbs Up

I have an 1987 21WA with a yammi 200 2 stroke and yammi 9.9 4 stroke.  RE fuel volume, pop the deckplate over the sending unit and look around for a tank sticker that should state the mfr and the capacity.  Mine was a thin aluminum-looking sticker to the left of the sending unit, buried under decades of grime.

Your capacity should be 69 gallons or thereabouts.  As you get used to your rig and want to optimize fuel efficiency, I suggest one of these:  http://www.floscan.com/html/blue/seriesdetail.php?sid=11

Gives you GPH and totalizes if you leave power to the meter.

Outboard consumption at WOT with a properly trimmed vessel and calm seas can be approximated at 1gph per 10hp.  So a 150 should burn about 15gph WOT.  These are rough numbers donchyaknow.

Hey Ron, I lived in Ft Lauderdale for 25 years.... now living in a little town on the CT shore. I also just purchased a 91 210 WA. Great solid boat, nice lines. Can't wait for the weather to break and get back out on the water.
I'm pretty sure it is 69-70 gallons. Totally drained the tank for winter storage so I'll know for sure in a couple of months.
