Found these in the battery box area.  Goes into the engine.  Posibly for a VRO alarm or something?

Without mentioning what make of motor you have, I'll assume you have an OMC since you mentioned VRO.  Now, the '96 vintage Evinrude/Johnsons had 4 deutsch plugs on the engine end, no separate feeds.  (2) 6-pins, (1) triangular 3-pin (trim/tilt), and a 2-pin for the oil tank.  Can't remember the wire colors off-hand, but that could be the wires you show.  Are you mixing on your own, or letting the engine do the mixing?

I am still using the VRO tank.  Its a 96 Johnson 200.  I looked and it seems there are 2 wires going to the VRO tank.  So these were maybe some older wires?  Who knows.  After looking in the battery box there needs to be some house keeping done.  There are wires going everywhere and I cant stand the messy look.

Oh I ran the motor dry today.  With all the fuel debate better safe then sorry.

Chad,
If these 2 wires were in the battery compartment, and you say they were routed into the engine, is there any evidence on the powerhead where they may have terminated?

Ill have to see where they go in the engine.  They enter the mass of wire loom into the engine
