I was told (by the PO)you can purchase a bow rail and deck extention?  Is this true?  Thats why the handrail doesnt connect together?

So it would look like this boat?

MJ,
Now, obviously, in '96 I wasn't around at Proline, still at Wellcraft.  However, I have to ask you a question...just how did your bowrail get in the condition it's in?  Is there evidence it was cut, or to the ends look smooth and formed?

Proline has varied the deck and hull molds over the years of the 20'-25' models, sometimes with a pulpit, sometimes without.  I never understood that, once a pulpit was incorpaorated into a mold, why remove it just to call a boat "new".  I like pulpits, but that is just one thing I never got... Undecided

That being said, It looks like you're going to have to piece together the nose section to get a complete bowrail.  I guaranty you that you cannot buy a pulpit and rail piece, as the PO told you.  I have no idea where he got that from.  But the good thing is you only need a section of tubing and 2 sleeves to complete the rail.  I know they sell this stuff at West Marine, Rail Fittings, which can be a good starting point.  If you have a local SS/Aluminum fabricator, you can probably get them to do it.  You would want the curved piece to match the curvature of your bow in that area, so a pattern would have to be made of your deck, then the pipe would have to be mandrel bent to match.  Any good fab shop can do it.

Bob,
I didnt think it was that easy.  This is how the boat was when I bought it.  The ends of the rails have caps with D rings on them for maybe a small line to be clipped into each end for safety.  I will look around at some fab shops and see what they charge for the section.
Thanks

Chad,
Apparently, the PO wanted unrestricted access to the bow, although I don't see why a rail would hinder him so badly that he felt he needed to get rid of it.

Regardless, check with your local fab shops, they can do it at a reasonable price... Thumbs Up
