I have a 96 proline 210 CC.  I get water in the battery compartment?  I rained a ton and I belive its water from that.  I sucked it dry last week, then after a few days of heavy rain it has water again.
1.  Shouldnt there be a drain to get the water from there (battery compartment)to the bilge?
2.  Where is it coming from (rain I know) but how is it getting in there?
I would post some pics but for some reason I cant?

Meanjean,
On a boat such as yours, the batt compartment is typically in the starboard aft corner, with the batt sitting on a platform.  Now, it is pretty evident that the hatch accessing that compartment leaks.  That being said, if that platform is inclined outboard, the accumulated water can't run uphill to the bilge and drain.

Remove your batt and batt tray.  Cut an oval through the platform midway under where the batt sits, about the width of the batt.  Reinstall tray and batt.  That should help a lot.  If you try and drill drain holes all the way outboard on the platform, chances are you'll run into foam, and then all you would be left with is wet foam...

You might want to look at installing a gasket on top of the inboard side of your hatch gutter that will allow your hatch to close and seal properly.

Ok I’m trying to grasp what your saying. Your correct on everything you described. The batteries sit on an elevated platform; the water is outboard of this platform. If I remove the batteries your saying cut a channel across the flat area?  Under the batteries?  The platform is a good 3 inches higher then the area where the water is collecting.  I don’t get what your telling me, sorry. There is a small pvc tube that runs from the bilge to somewhere right next to the transom.  One port and one starboard.  Is this some kind of drain?  As for the battery lid leaking, I will look into some kind of foam/weather stripping.

The access panel on my 24SS leaked....the 2 latches didn't tighten well enough to compress the gasket. I removed the panel and turned it over so that the hinge side was up. No more leaking.

I dont get how rain water can get past the channel built into the seat?

What you did was flip the lid on top of the hinge to raise the lid?  Allowing for a gasket to be installed and the lid sit flat when closed?

Mine is a panel attached to the vertical liner for access into the euro-transom and bilge. Maybe yours is something different hence the confusion.
The panel is hard attached to the trim moulding. It removes as a single assembly...even the screw holes line up when turned over.

Warren,
Your access panel, the big "Jim Black" panel under your fold-down rear bench is quite a bit different than meanjeans, but I'm glad turning over the panel so that it lifts up solved your issue...

Meanjean,
Can you shoot a pic of the outboard area where the water collects?  If we can see what the visuals are in that area, we can probably give you the fix pretty quick.

You would be facing aft in this picture and the water is to the left of the white battery.  The keel is to the right.

Ok here are some better pics.  Still open to ideas on how to keep water from pooling here.  And how does it get there?
Thanks
Chad

MJ,
Have you considered the possibility of water ingress through the rod holder in the starboard aft corner?  I know it has a cap on it, but can it actually keep a good stream of water out?  Take a house and douse that rod holder liberally, then look in there and see if any water made it in.  Helps to have a dry area to start with...

BTW, has anyone talked to you about the use of "wire nuts" on boats? Shocked

Ill take a look and no on the wire nuts.  But before you go off in the deep end I didn't do it Undecided

I mentioned the messy wiring in another thread.  In the PO defense he did at least fill them with silicone.

Chad,
LOL!  I know you didn't terminate with wire nuts, just had to give you some sh!t!

Seriously, even though I'm sure some water is getting in over the gutter drains around your hatch opening, I wouldn't be surprised if your getting a good bit of water down that rod holder...after all, it is directly above the affected area.

The next step will be to poke some holes in the proper places to get that area to drain... Cheesy Cheers
