I see dead fishes

Bob,

At some point I will be gutting/refitting the majority of the electrical systems in my 21' Proline.  I'm sure you have several approved vendors for everything from bilge pumps to electrical connectors.

Any chance of getting some suggestions for:

-Marine grade connectors (I know you use some Deusch stuff)
-Switches
-Pumps (bilge, washdown, baitwell, etc.)
-Lights (LED, underwater, HID, etc.)
-Gages
-Other electrical stuff that one wants to be very choosy about

Also, what is the chance of getting a factory tour?  I'll be flying into Tampa from NY this Feb 16 Cheers

Hugh,
When I get the chance, I'll put together something about our vendors that you can pore over, but right now I am really swamped as my sidework has picked up dramatically.  2 boats for a complete re-wire (one a Proline 183, the other a Ranger 24 Bay), a survey, system explanation and seatrial on a 32 Express, an A/C replacement (larger BTUs to A/C the helm) on another 32 Express, plus work, plus I run the football pool!

Good to be busy!!! Cheers Cheers

A plant tour should be no prob.  Keep in touch as Feb approaches... Thumbs Up

Sounds good.  Glad those side jobs are keeping you busy!

If you don't get to it before Feb I'll take pictures and notes of the latest and greatest when I visit the plant and I will post for the board.  I'm particularily interested in water tight disconnects, as my current practice for bilge environments is the marine butt connector...which has to be cut (infrequently) when I change out bilge pumps and other wetted components.

Also, I volunteer to scan old sales manuals into color PDFs and load them up into this website or Proline's website.  Proline may not want to part with them for the few weeks it will take me...but I will make the time available if they are agreeable.

I realize PDFs are no substitute for competent customer support, but it may help someone along the way Cheers

Hugh,
We use Deutsch conn's on all our appliances, i.e. pumps, lights, etc.  Are they TRULY "waterproof"?  Your guess is as good as mine.  One of the secrets to keeping appliances healthy and living as long as can be expected is to have a DRY BILGE!!!  Wow, what a concept! Cheers

Hey Bob,
I just purchased a 91 210 W/A with an 89 Yamaha 115. Hull is in great shape, motor runs fine but almost nothing is working electric-wise. No nav lights, dash choke or gauges are working. Just beginning to sort through the wiring, Beginning by trying to ID as many wires as I can and then remove or replace gauges. If you come across any wiring diagrams or color code info please let me know.

Also, the company that I work for has pretty competitive prices on most of the items on your list. Check them out. defender.com.
