JJ,
Assuming the stereo is installed, pull it out and see if you can determine, through the opening, where the speaker wires head out from the unit.  The cabin speaker wires will be in the deck harness, which runs forward from the helm area.  The cockpit wires may be in the deck harness as well, heading aft, but also could be in the hull harness.  Have you pulled the speakers and reached around to see if you can locate them?

If the boat has an added aftermarket stereo and speakers, well, your guess is as good as mine...back then, chances are, the factory harnesses weren't pre-wired for stereos.

the wires go between the helm pod and cabin wall I pulled the
pod off no access panel there-- only a small hole in cabin i can feel a harness in there but access it not(it appears to be factory install

So are there wires hooked up to the existing speakers?

Daren,
Most cabin boats we build have a bulkhead, or false wall, that closes out the area behind the helm.  Now I can't vouch for yours, as it was BB (before Bob), but there should be some visable screws with caps on them around the perimeter of this bulkhead.  Remove them, and you can get the bulkhead out of the way and have all the access you need.  Not a hard job.  If you want, take a pic of the bulkhead, preferably from all the way forward in the cabin, and let me take a look.

JJ,
Bigtime my bad!  Sometimes I forget who I'm replying to!  Anyway, as far as posting pics, have you tried photobucket?  That's how I posted these pics:

No resizing necessary.  Anyway, taking the wall down is not that big of deal.  Then, not only can you see what you have behind there, you can also see how you can install a hatch to allow you access WITHOUT taking the wall down! Cheers

That's our 32 Pilot House.  Will be installing Evinrude's Electronic controls next week.  She's my little baby! Cheers
