I know trailers are the curse of boating but I need some service work done on my Merc so I have no choice. I own a 18 -20 foot magic tilt trailer and a 1999 22 foot proline WA. I spoke to a trailer manufacturing place and they said sure we can just extend the tongue, others have said but if you don't balance it right you will have too much weight on the tongue/transom and all sorts of horror stories. So here are the questions 1. Does anyone know the weight of this bost with a 1999 merc 200 OB 2 stroke. 2. Can you extend the tongue on a trailer? 3. How do you know how to center the boat on the trailer, for that matter how do you determine the center of the boat?
Thanks for your advice.

Most trailers have a max. wt. rating. How much does your Boat weigh?
The tongue wt. should usually ideally be about 10% of the total weight.
As long as that criteria is met you should be OK. But be sure the weight of the trailer and the total weight of the boat don't exceed the Mfg. weight info on the trailer because the axles springs and tires are probably going be the determining factor.
Hope this helps.

Forgot to mention;
You can google "Trailer Towing" on the internet and get all the info you might want and then some.
