I found a great deal on an 8 HP Yamaha High Thrust 4-stroke, I'm thinking about putting it on my 2000 24 Walkaround as a kicker. Any input on something similar anyone has done on their boat would be appreciated.

bracket is the key.
if you have a way to mount it you are there.
I have a 9.9honda on my 231 with a panther aluminaum adjustable bracket, used to have the garelick ez-in, they are almost identical , they are limited to about 100pounds and they dont recommend road trailerring use, my garelick lasted over 11years and then adjuster bar failed, the panther only has a few months on it.
is your transom flat or built in step/angled? is your boat outboard and if so does your main bracket have room for a kicker.
8.hp ht should push fine except into a heavy sea.

I built a fixed bracket on the port side swim platform a few years back, that I put an old 20 HP Mercury on. Since I re-powered with the new Yamah, I wanted to get a newer kicker to go with the set-up. I had been thinking about the 9.9 HP High Thrust, but I came across a good deal on the 8 HP high Thrust and wanted to see if the lack of the 2 ponies would make a difference. I will use it to troll with and/or move back up on top of the drift and save the 300 to move locations. The new kicker is 4-stroke so I could use the main tank for fuel and not have to have a 2nd fuel tank on the boat.
Thanks for the help!
