Wanted to say Hello and introduce myself. Would like to hear from anyone with comments/ideas or information on my newly acquired '93 26 Proline WAC. Original motor is 250 Yamaha. Compression is good and getting a once over now. Hope to get a season or 2 out of the motor then if I want to keep the boat, re power. Can I easily re power to twins?

I am new owner of '93 26 WAC, single 250, hard top. The hull looks great. Topside needs a little TLC. Boat is at the mechanic's shop for a once over and tune. Drain fuel tank, tune up, ... Then I'll bottom pain and trailer rebuild.
Just picked up a place on a deep water canal with quick access to the Gulf of Mexico (Tampa bay region), so boat will be in the water.
I was looking for a forum to discuss this boat.
Last project boat I had was a 20' Shamrock. Great boat after lots of $ and time.
I wanted a decent fishing platform that would be more comfortable in rough conditions. Maybe this is a good compromise.
Like to hear more and I'll be around with questions and/or answers.

Great having you onboard.  I own a 01-26walk I am not sure how diffrent the hulls are based on year of production.  I have enjoyed mine when I get the time to get it out on the water considering the economy.  I'm also in the Tampa Bay area maybe some day I will see you out on Tampa Bay.  I usually trailer out from the Seminole Boat Ramp in Clearwater and depending on the tides out of Safety Harbor Marina.  Enjoy your 26WAC.  I am currently using the 01 Mercury Opti-Max 225 with Mirage 3 blade s/s prop and it pushes her purty good at least good enough for me.

Back again with something to ask this time.

Had her out a few times now after a month or so in the shop. The water jackets were so gunked up the mechanic had to wire brush them out but that seems to have taking care of the overheating problem. Compression is great, starts and runs good. May need to adjust prop as it is had to push it above 46-48 in a slight chop. Top speed is 38 MPH so far.

I am keeping the boat in the water and getting ready to bottom paint soon.

Is their any reason to keep the motor up while the boat sits in the water. Mechanic mentioned not to flush with motor up due to fuel and carb issues. So why not keep the motor in the water fully when she sits in port? Looks better. A good portion (6") of the lower motor is in the water when it is fully tilted anyway. So I am going to have to bottom paint part of the lower end anyway.

Pro or cons here? Just may have extra zinc wear but any other reason to keep motor tilted if it's not coming out of the water fully?

Thanks
