in what year did proline start using fiberglass stringers?  should i ever worry about my stringers in my 88?  i have not found much wood in my boat but the wood i have found was rotten. yet the fiberglass over it was over 1/2 a inch thick and no flex so no real need for wood.

Hi paul, I conducted extensive research on proline boats before recently purchasing a 1996 251. Every model from 1995 onwards utilised the FIST System (Fibreglass integrated structural technology) this system in my understanding utilised wood only in non structural areas like internal cabin/cupboards etc. A high density foam core product was utilised in transom/stringers some bulkheads and some deck areas. You will definately need to keep an eye on your 88 model, however if no moisture has entered these areas the stringers could be fine, could be worth doing some core checks and then filling holes with resin if OK.
