I am half way through my first year with this boat  So far things are going well, a lot of littel fixes here and there but nothing major.  I have noticed the boat is really slow getting out of the hole.  I know the boat was repowered and I am thinking the shafts are not long enough on the engices and that is why she labors so much to get up on plane.  I am considering the 5" extension kit that made by Bay.  Has anyone doen this in the past?  Did it help alot?

Any help is appreciated.

UNLESS your props are way above the normal mounting location it might actually hurt,  by raising the bow, lower mounting has the effect
of increasing the "lever moment"  relative to center of mass.
lower pitch props may help with acceleration but may hurt economy and top speed, are yolu getting rated rpm at WOT? unless you know root of the conition try the less expensive options first.
do you have the motors trimmed in for acceleration?  is your boat loaded stern heavy? are you using too much or not enough trim tab?

2 Strokes or 4 Strokes? What is your WOT RPM with a full load? I assume these motors are on a bracket. I have a 2610 and I start with motors trimmed down and half tabs. If you provide more info I may be able to help. I went through a learning curve with this boat and ended up changing props but that is not where to start.

I am still toying around with it.  I have tried tabs all the way down and that made it worse.  The boat has an extended transom not a "bracket".  I am planning on taking her out again to play some more in the next few days with no one on board.  I will get the WOT RPM numbers then.  She sat around for 4 years so I have been babying her as I ran alot of fresh gas, startron and Ring free through the engines.  Time to max it out and see what I get.  I will report back then.

These engines are certainly not fitted properly as I cannot event tilt them up all the way as the streering hardware hits the fiberglass if I do that.

Thanks

OK, I forgot the 2810 had the euro style transom. You did not answer the question of motor type: SWII, HPDI, 4 Stroke? If the steering is contacting the transom, whoever mounted those engines may have used the units off the old engines and they are not correct for that setup.

Sorry,

They are HPDI 2 strokes.  I was planning on taking a hard look at the steering units this winter to verify exactly what the correct unit is.  I got a great deal on the boat so I am expecting some issues with it.

Did you replace all the fuel filters including the high pressure VST filter? What is the shaft length and what prop pitch and diameter are you running? Those motors if working correctly should make that boat launch at the holeshot.
