I HAD4bbl carb rebuilt last year, was getting a gunk in them from mtbe& methanol residues plugging tranfer ports(midrange circuit), made it 14 years, never quit but transitioned badly from idle to mains.
always had preservative, clean filters (2) and full tank.
filters are only part of job.
hope carbs do it, should last long time
only ran 12.9 gallons sat ,going to fish thursday and expect to burn 20-40gal .
its going to get worse as i cant get ethanol free fuel and e15 is comming.
Deathanol to boats fuel sytems.

231Cal,

I had this water in fuel problem before and realized that the problem with pumping out is the cost and safety.  Commercial companies will do it for about $300-$600 and if you do it yourself, you need (really need) to make sure there are no sparks from anything, like electrical motors and so on.  I was able to find a guy who pumped out gas for free and would give to his friend who had to go for medical treatment a lot.  Apparently, a little water in the gas isn't so bad in a car.

While on this topic, maybe boaters and marinas should act together to get gas without ethanol.  Airports do it, as the planes demand it.  I also would like to see fuel tanks with a simple drain at the bottom or low point.  And installation kits.  Can't be that difficult.

Just my two cents...
