I am researching appropriate anchors for my boat. My 1998 241 WA has a pulpit and what appears to be a factory issued bow roller. There is NO WINDLASS.
What brand of bow roller was put on my year and model boat, what anchor style are these rollers made for, how do I use this bow roller without a windlass, and does it actually hold the anchor in place?
Thanks

Big flat danforth style with little or no chain works for me, 300feet rode, pull it all up through the center loop of the roller until flukes stop on bottom lips of roller, belay cleat and if extra security wanted tie extra piece of line or cord from cleat to anchor.
snugs up nicely, about all the weight i can lift, i think its 22#?
of  course i pull it all by hand and ther is little room for a windlass and no real access to area from below.
 Thumbs Up

dont know brand but most are similar.
msot boat of your size and type rely on human power rather than  windlass,, pulpit acess via walkaround is very easy and secure.
your roller and bracket should hold that flukle type anchor provided the ears meet the flukes and you have a centerline pull aft on your rode or chain.
do you have a center mounted  bowcleat  or the 2 side bow cleats?
if you nhave the center cleat jsut cinch line aft and belay to cleat.
if you have the 2 cleats you have to  make small harness out of cord or line to secure to both cleats and get a centerline pull to hodl anchor secure.

you likely  need to flip the retention loop foreward when hauling anchor into roller and lift it straight up before laying it back.
