Obscure question I know and difficult to find the answer so far.

Mike Carrigan recently told me the brochure boat weight of 4250#'s is for the hull alone, no engines. Since the hardtop is an option I doubt if that's in the 4250 either.

The AC/DC fridge, the A/C, the trim tabs, the head with macerator and pump out, the rocket launcher, and the windlass are all options too, and I'd guess not in the base hull 4250 weight. However all those things can be easily found online with a shipping weight, including the engine.

But the hardtop and frame assembly...?

SOMETIMES the best way to find a boats weight is to put it on a truck stop scale and deduct the weight of the trailer.
eliminates a lot of variables.
they are avail almost everywhere.
now you have to know how much the traielr weighs. Angel

Or...have a trailer!  Smiley

My boat is slipped. And I don't need the total weight, just the weight of the hardtop and frame. Of course I could fill the fuel tank so I'm sure of that weight, get the total weight, subtract the trailer, then start subtracting everything I can lke engine, fuel, fridge, potty, tabs, stuff...and work my way backwards. But again, I don't have a trailer.

In a 2009 thread on THT I found a guy who, for different reasons, had done just what you suggested. He has a Proline 23 Express with hardtop, and the same engine I have. His weight without trailer is 6000#'s. Subtract his 1/4 fuel, engine, and hull weight and the remainder is 1300#'s. I don't know what "stuff" he had on board, or all of his options. The frame for the hardtop is beefy no doubt, but 1300 pounds, or even 1000 pounds, doesn't seem right.

Hey Seabob might know! I'll get a hold of him.

Faron knew. The guy is awesome. Man I can only hope that somehow it stays even close to as good as it is with these guys.

The complete hardtop for the 251 weighs about 500#'s. It's a beast for sure.

I forget where I learned the figure 6000#'s, but all the goodies I have on my boat includiing the hardtop, 100 gals of fuel, 2 gals of oil and 20 gals of water, fridge, ac, etc etc add up to about 6000#'s! Full fuel makes it 6400. Add two 220# guys like me, gear, food, and ice, bait and chum and you're closing in on  7000#'s.

OK TRY THIS ,
Measure the length of all the tubing, find out its lengeth per foot, multiply, add a bit for feet/pads brackets etc, then unbolt radio box and top panel weigh them separately or get weighs from supplier source.
on second thought maybe not so easy.
call a hardtop mfr and ask?
I too see only a couple hundred pounds" or so", aluminum tubes, roof panel, radio box, maybe a few electronics and their boxes and antennas and lights and their mounts and wiring. canvas and attachments.
if they are much heavier than that, ill be a monkeys uncle,
in any case im probably a monkeys uncle anyway. Banging Head

that if they make hardtops the same as out here , maybe yours are huricane proof etc?

That's funny about the hurricane strength.

Hey 231' thanks for your input. You must have been typing your last post the same time I was. You'll see that Faron from the factory knew, as always.  Thumbs Up
