I have a 21 PL sport CC. No bow pulpit.  Just a normal rounded bow.   I want to install a anchor roller on the bow and store the anchor there when not in use.  When you look around online you only find pictures of just the mount.  There is no anchor in the mounts.  I have no real way of knowing how far back the flukes go, how far up or down the shank sits when the anchor is stored.

Anyone have some experience with this?  I have a 9# fluke anchor now and can get a new style anchor if its cheap.  Not some $800 SS anchor, budget wont allow that.

Pictures of your boat with anchor installed would help a ton.

The model I am looking at is a dive n dog .

You don't want to do this...  not sure what the problem is - wrong anchor?

MeanJean, I just heard from Chuck Wagner at Donzi about my anchor setup.  I suspected that the anchor roller was factory installed and perhaps they knew what type of anchor I should be using with that roller.  (The flukes were hitting the underside of the bow pulpit).   Chuck said the anchor davit was too short.  Seems I somehow have to get the anchor held further away from the boat and that means securing the flukes.  I hate the thought of shock cord out there!!

This must be a common problem.  I'm only guessing but perhaps the solution is 1) plow anchor, 2) longer bow roller and secure flukes, 3) put a plate on underside of bow pulpit to accept the punishment by flukes, or 4) pin or somehow fasten anchor shank such that the chain/windlass pulls it tight against pin, and pin keeps flukes further out; flukes are somehow secured so that they don't rattle.

Ideas, folks?

Some rollers are Universal, but most are made for specific styles (Delta, Bruce, Danforth, Plow, CQR, etc.) and sizes/weights of anchors. Defender's catalog has some illustrations that may help. You can order a free one from their web site. defender.com

Dive n Dog has stopped shipping for awhile. They are moving their facility.
